Fire Destroys Holiday Plans for one Gainesville Family
Published November 16th, 2012
GAINESVILLE- Gainesville and Alachua Fire Rescue showed up at the home on Southeast 41st Place shortly after a neighbor placed a 911 call.
Officials with GFR say the fire was completely under control in ten minutes
Fire rescue personnel searched the home to ensure no one was trapped inside, no serious injuries have been reported.
What the family says caused fire is something they feel the landlord could’ve fixed to avoid an emergency.
Residents and family of the displaced Shamon Williams and Keambrea Smith believe it, “Had to be some type of wiring...they believe it was faulty wiring.”
What family members are saying is even more miraculous, is that despite both Fire and Red Cross Officials claiming the house was completely destroyed is that one of the family’s most prized possessions came out undamaged.
Keambrea Smith and Shamon Williams explain, “You think he was looking out for you? 5 bibles yes,we know he was looking out for us because he didn’t let my mom come home with my daughter."
On the verge of the holiday season and in the face of tragedy this Gainesville family says they have plenty to be thankful for.
