Happy Friday...and happy December eve everyone! We've got lots of holiday activities area wide this weekend!
Tonight you can get in the holiday spirit. The City of Alachua is having it's tree lighting by City Hall from 6 to 8 this evening. website ...while in Marion County "Light Up Dunnellon" starts at 6:30. website At 7 pm you can play in 8 tons of snow at the Town of Tioga as the folks there celebrate the holiday season. website The Town of Bell in Gilchrist County is having it's lighting celebration from 6 to 8 this evening, while the town has other holiday activities on Saturday, including a parade at 2 pm.
This weekend, Saturday is the day for "Christmas on the Square" in downtown Live Oak. The event starts 8 am and includes Santa Land and other activites....with a lighted parade at 6 pm. website Chiefland's 9th annual Christmas festival and parade is Saturday. Trailhead Park in Chiefland will be the place to be...with Santa arriving there after the lighted parade at 6 pm. website Williston's activities Saturday include a parade at 6 pm which marks the start of "Light Up Williston".
In Putnam County, Saturday is also the day for "Light the Riverfront". The festivities in Palatka go from 4 to 8 pm, including a lighted boat parade at 7 in the evening. website It's an "Up, Up and Away Christmas" in Interlachen as the town celebrates with it's annual parade of lights starting at 6:15 pm Saturday. Meanwhile, in Bradford County, the City of Starke is having it's "Old Fashioned Christmas" parade. It runs from 6 to 7 pm. website
Saturday in Gainesville, Santa Fe College is hosting "A Children's Holiday at Santa Fe". The children's show showcases the talents of various departments at the college. Dance Theater Santa Fe will perform parts of the ballet "The Nutcracker", while the performances by the schools' singers and actors will keep you in the holiday spirit. There'll also be crafts and treats to enjoy. The fun, emceed by our own Corrie Lovette, starts at 2 pm Saturday at Santa Fe's Fine Arts Hall on the NW campus. website
One last note...Saturday Orange Springs is having it's Christmas Parade at 4, while the tree lighting celebration at the Thomas Center in Gainesville is 6 to 8 pm. website
