Investigators are searching for someone who killed an elderly woman in Marion County.

Residents describe the neighborhood of Lemonwood II as peaceful and family oriented, but many are in shock after their neighbor 64- year -old Carolyn Wagner was found murdered in her home.

"I am shocked at the moment. It's not what you expect," said Amin Khan.

Khan and his wife have been living next door to Wagner since 2005.
Wagner lived by herself at 4802 SW 1st Ave.
Khans' wife went over to check on Wagner on Sunday morning because some things just didn't seem right.

"She had like three days worth of newspapers left on her drive way and the garage door was open, which is very unlike her. She always closes her garage door when she gets in," said Khan.

His wife went inside through the garage, looking for Wagner.
That's when she found her dead in her bedroom.

"There was blood all to her head and she was within her bed covers. We did see some bullet shell casings around the bed," said Khan.

They didn't notice any signs of froced entry.
The Khan's called 9-1-1 immediately after discovering the body.

Crime scene investigators and detectives were still at the scene Monday morning, but they are not releasing any details or facts about Wagner's death.

"It's an ongoing investigation. We are still at the preliminary of the investigation so at this point we are not able to release any facts or details about the crime scene," said Sgt. Ryan Robbins with the Marion County Sheriff's.

Robbins said the last time wagner was seen alive was on Thursday.

The Khans' said they believe wagner was dead for a couple days before they found her and now they are coping with loss.

"She just went over to say hi to her and to find her in bed like that is not a good sight," said Khan.

An unpleasant sight of the way they last saw their neighbor.
