OCALA, Fla. - Two more horse farms have been quarantined following an outbreak of equine herpes virus at an Ocala area farm.

No new cases of the outbreak were found. But officials quarantined Hard Ford Farm in Reddick and Chestnut Hill Farm in Ocala on Monday after horses housed there later developed the illness.

Nine farms in Marion County have been quarantined by the Florida Department of Agriculture Consumer Services.

State officials say the outbreak has been linked to a major horse show in north-central Florida. They've been taking strict precautions to contain the spread of the virus.

The virus, known as EVH-1 is spread through respiratory secretions and via contaminated feed buckets, food, grooming tools and other equine equipment. It's not transmittable to humans.
