Happy Friday everyone! Plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy this weekend....with things to do inside as well.
At the Phillips Center, Danscompany of Gainesville is celebrating 30 years in our community. "Dancing Thru the Decades" is the groups latest production. There'll be a number of original dances....and, to top it all off, the annual rendition of "The Wiz". You'll get to see Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion as they dance down the yellow brick road. And you can meet the dancers after the show. Showtimes are 1:30 and 7 pm Saturday at the Phillips Center in Gainesville. Website
If you're looking for ideas to spruce up your home, the North Central Florida Home and Garden Show may be the place for you this weekend. The event will feature over 250 booths with information, products and services.... Including "How To" clinics on home related topics. The show runs from 10 to 5 Saturday and 11 to 5 Sunday at the O'Connell Center in Gainesville. Website
In Ocala, the Marion County Master Gardeners Spring Festival is this weekend. As it gets warmer outside, gardening is a popular activity this time of year. The festival will feature a number of programs where you can learn.... whether its growing for food to attracting butterflies to lawn care. There will be plenty of vendors there...and a new kids gardening zone that sounds like fun. The event goes from 8 to 5 Saturday and 9 to 4 Sunday at the UF/IFAS Marion County Extension Service, 2232 NE Jacksonville Road in Ocala. Website
Paynes Prairie State Park is hosting a family friendly event this weekend. Family Birding is part of a series of sessions on Beginning Birding at the park. Saturday's session will focus on attracting birds to your backyard... including a birdhouse building activity for the kids. You'll also be able to learn about birds that live at Paynes Prairie, how to identifiy birds and their songs, and more. The event runs from 9 to 11 Saturday morning at the park on highway 441 south of Gainesville. Website
Finally, the Gator baseball team starts a 3 game series against Indiana starting tonight at 7 on the UF campus. Website
