Son Charged With Murdering His Own Father, Police Investigating Motive

LAKE CITY -- As police try to figure out what allegedly drove a son to shoot and kill his own father, neighbors of the family are speaking out, and say they never saw any signs of trouble.
According to police, Eric Haenisch, 19, shot and killed his own father, Herman Haenisch, 55, inside his own apartment on Sunday night. Investigators say Eric lived in that home with both his father and his mother, Khrissi Haenisch.
Police say Khrissi was out of town when the shooting took place, but called 911 after receiving a disturbing phone call from her son.
"The mother told us that she was on the phone, with the suspect Eric. Eric stated that he had shot and killed his father," said Officer Steve Shaw with the Lake City Police Department.
After his mother gave police a description of her son's SUV, officers were able to locate Eric less than two miles away at the Cabot Lodge hotel near I-75.
Eric Haenisch was immediately arrested and booked into the Columbia County Jail. However, that wasn't his first time behind bars. Eric Haenisch was previously arrested back in March on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon. Those charges were later dropped, and at this point its not clear if that was in any way related to this case.
Meantime, neighbors who lived down the street from the Haenisch apartment say there were never any signs of anything wrong within the family, and even described Eric as a normal, friendly teenager.
