Happy Friday everyone! Not quite as busy around our area this weekend.
After a week at home, the Gator football team heads to Miami this weekend. If it's Gator sports you're wanting to see, you're in luck. The Gator soccer team is playing it's next three matches at home. The Oklahoma Sooners are in town to take on the tenth ranked Gators at James Pressly Stadium at 7 pm this evening. While Saturday will be a quiet day at UF, the soccer team returns to action Sunday as they face Oklahoma State at 1 pm on the UF campus. Website
If catching a play at a local theatre is more to your liking, you are also in luck. The Ocala Civic Theatre is starting a new season with its production of "Les Miserables". Referred to as one of the world's best loved musicals, the multiple Tony Award winning English version of the show opened in London in 1985. Les Miz, as it is referred to, is set in 19th century France. Showtimes are tonight and Saturday night at 7:30 with a matinee Sunday at 2 pm. Just west of Gainesville, Dudley Farm can give you a taste of what life was like in 19th century America. This weekend the state park is home to "Reconstruction", an event designed to showcase Florida life in the years following the Civil War. Living historians will give you a taste of the hard times faced by army soldiers, freed slaves, cow hunters and others. The event runs from 9 am to 4 pm Saturday. Oleno State Park, about 8 miles north of High Springs on US 441, is celebrating Literacy Day Saturday. The "Where Tales Meet Trails" book fair will feature stories read by local authors. There'll also be live animals, arts and crafts and refreshments at the event. You can also take an adventure walk and sign up for a library card as well. "Where Tales Meet Trails" goes from 10 to 2 Saturday. Website
