Happy Friday everyone! Fall is almost here...but this weekend is a still a good one if you want to get out of the house.
Barbecue is good anytime of year.... and there'll be plenty of it in Columbia County the next couple of days. The Columbia County Fairgrounds in Lake City is home to the Smokin' Pig BBQ Fest. If you're heading out tonight you can enjoy some good barbecue and catch Nashville recording artist Jared Ashley. Throughout the event there'll be great food, with bounce houses, games, contests and a lot more. The Smokin' Pig Barbecue Fest runs until 11 tonight and starts back up at 10 am Saturday at the fairgrounds located on State Road 247 in Lake City. Website
If it's sports you're looking for, it will be active on the UF campus this weekend. Tonight, the eighth ranked Gator soccer team is in action as the Alabama Crimson Tide rolls into town. The action begins at 7 pm this evening at James Pressly Stadium. The Swamp will be heating up Saturday as the football team returns to action at home. The Gators take on SEC rival Tennessee at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Kickoff is just after 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Website
Downtown Ocala will be busy tonight, too. The City of Ocala is teaming up with other groups for the Downtown Summer Jams and Food Truck Fridays concert series. There'll be plenty of music at the event, in addition to up to a dozen gourmet food trucks. And the Ocala Mopar Group will be there putting on a car show.... featuring all makes and models. The event goes from 5:30 to 10 pm tonight at Citizens Circle on SE Osceola Avenue in Ocala. Website
Finally, this is the final weekend for the Hippodrome's production of "Don't Dress For Dinner", a sequel to the play "Boeing-Boeing". Website And in Williston, Sunday is Elephant Appreciation Day at Two Tails Ranch. Website
