Tonight Florida Gateway College in Lake City is hosting country music artist Jerrod Niemann. The career of the Kansas native spans over a dozen years and features five consecutive top 40 country singles. He's probably best known for his 2010 number one hit "Lover, Lover". Niemann takes to the stage at 7:30 tonight at FGC's Levy Performing Arts Center. Website
If Latin entertainment is more to your liking, the Phillips Center on the UF campus is the place to be tonight. Hispanic Heritage Month and UF Student Government Productions present comedian Andy Pita and the merengue band Grupo Mania. Pita is a Miami native who's hosted events on the Spanish channel Univision. The Puerto Rican band Grupo Mania is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. "Life in the Son" is a Christian music festival coming to Gainesville Saturday. The event is taking place at YMCA's Camp McConnell. Top Christian music acts Newsong, Aaron Shust, Royal Tailor and others will be performing. All festival ticket holders can also enjoy the activities available at the camp, including tennis and swimming, and a lot more. The event goes until 10 pm at Camp McConnell which is located seven miles south of Gainesville at 210 Southeast 134th Avenue in Micanopy. Event website Camp McConnell website
The Gainesville Community Playhouse is wrapping up its production of the comedy "Lend Me A Tenor" this weekend. The show, which originally premiered in London in 1986, received nine Tony Award nominations. Show times are tonight at 8 pm, Saturday at 2 and 8 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. Website
Finally, the American Heart Association's Alachua County Heart Walk is Saturday morning at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Starting time for the walk is 8:30. Website
