If you're into country music, this is the weekend for you. Suwannee River Jam is underway in Live Oak. The annual music event features a few of the bigger names in country. This year you can catch the Charley Daniels Band, Colt Ford, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and lots more. The LoCash Cowboys will wrap up the event when they perform midnight Saturday night. Expect music on multiple stages. Suwannee River Jam is at the Sprit of the Suwannee Music Park just north of Live Oak. In Gainesville, the Free Fridays Concert Series returns to downtown. The event cranks up in early May and goes through October. The series is every Friday and features local and regional bands and other performing artists. This week it's the Gainesville band Buffalo Spoonful. Tonight the group pays tribute to the great English rock 'n' roll guitarist Eric Clapton. The concert runs from 8 to 10 pm tonight at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza on East University Avenue in Gainesville. Website
To the south in Marion County, Belleview is celebrating it's past on Sunday. The Founders Day Festival is a celebration of the history of the community that became Marion County's second city. There'll be all kinds of food and arts and crafts. Kids can enjoy face painting, bounce houses, a petting zoo and pony rides at the event. One of the highlights will be the Miss Belleview pageant. Founders Day goes from 10 am to 3 pm Sunday at City Hall Park on Southeast Abshier Boulevard in Belleview.
The Cymplify KidFest is Saturday. The event is designed to be a play day for kids with a variety of entertaining and educational things to do. You can expect juggling, songs, music, and dance. And there'll be a variety of food trucks there, too. It's all part of Cymplify's Spring Fling 2014 which also includes a food truck rally Friday night from 5 to 9 pm. KidFest runs from noon to 9 pm Saturday at Cymplify, 5408 NW 8th Avenue in Gainesville. Website
