Makes me wonder…is Meyer

granted “proper esteem”---

proper credit---

from Gator “backers”

for TWO national championships?

You hear “a lot of negatives” …

Some say---“Urban was not a REAL Gator”…

Well…is SABAN “a real BAMA guy?”…

People complain that Urban coached

Florida “only six seasons”…

So, should we “penalize” him

“for getting sick?”…

To NOT say that Meyer belongs

in the “same sentence” with

Steve Spurrier---if we’re “rating”

the BEST coaches in Gator

football history---“is dead wrong”…

Both of them---Steve and Urban---had

winning percentages

“at least 50 points higher” than

any other coach in the

105 years of Gator football…

Spurrier’s record: 122—27—1…

Percentage of .817…

Meyer was 65 and 15…percentage---.812…

I say Spurrier merits “the edge” as No. 1… He had 12 seasons to

Meyer’s half-dozen…

Steve won 6 SEC championships---Urban 2…

But in national championships---

Meyer has 2, Spurrier 1…

“No other Florida coach” has

been credited with EVEN

ONE “S.E.C.—OR national title”…

Spurrier is already immortalized with

a statue outside The Swamp---along

with Danny Wuerffel and

Tim Tebow---because they are

Heisman Trophy winners… But a FOURTH

STATUE---honoring Meyer---makes enormous

sense to me… I keep “hearing TALK”

from Gator people that is

“bittersweet” in regard to Meyer…

One long-time Florida fan told me,

“I often hear Urban being downgraded

because he refused to get rid of

Steve Addazio as offensive coordinator”…

Hey--I was NO “Addazio proponent”---

BUT to belittle Meyer’s “body of work”

for such a reason is LUDICROUS…

Okay---I’ll say it…Among the 22 men who

have served as Florida head coach

since 1906---I say Spurrier is No. 1…

Meyer is 1-A… Nobody else is CLOSE…
