Mizell Minute 10/28
Tomorrow—
the Florida Gators
play Georgia in
football for
the 89th time…
Since 1990--
encompassing the
coaching times of
Steve Spurrier
and Urban Meyer—
Gator football
has “escalated
to historic
altitudes”…
Far more
PROMINENCE
in the SEC
AND nationally…
Far higher
“expectations”…
Florida has won
18 of the last 21
against Georgia…
But NOW---
that “far-loftier
Gator STATUS
faces its
biggest challenge…
IF Florida LOSES
To Georgia—
this Gator season
is in “ashes”…
A fourth straight
October FAILURE
would make
a winning
record “ALL BUT
IMPOSSIBLE”…
Florida’s last
LOSING year
was 1979—
when Charley Pell’s
“thread-bare” first
Gator team went
OH-10-and-ONE…
To lose NOW
to the Bulldogs
will plunge
Gator “pride”
to its PUNIEST
level since the
“calamity of ‘79”…
Florida’s schedule
still has exams
against “the best
Vanderbilt team”
in 25 years…
THEN--Spurrier’s
South Carolina…
AND a “deeply talented”
Florida State…
Georgia IS
unquestionably
“ravenous”---trying
to end its
21-year “Jacksonville
embarrassment”…
BUT--which school
“needs it most?”---
I say FLORIDA….
I’m Hubert Mizell,
and that’s what I think.
