HOLLYWOOD - London Olympic organizers say former Beatle Paul McCartney and other star performers who took part in Friday's opening ceremony were paid one pound for their performances.
That's $1.57.
They had to be paid something, even if it was just a pound, to make their Olympic contracts binding.
McCartney would obviously receive much, much more for a gig at a stadium.
Hope he doesn't spend his Olympic paycheck all in one place.
J Lo, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler are out.
Mariah Carey has been named to take over for Jennifer Lopez. The question remains as to who are the replacements for the other two American Idol judges.
US Weekly is reporting that singer Nick Jonas and rapper Pharrell Williams are the frontrunners to fill the vacant seats.
Producers are hoping the 19-year old Jonas and 39-year old Williams will help bring in a younger audience.
Actor Kirk Douglas is donating another $5 million to the northern New York college he graduated from 73 years ago.
St. Lawrence University in Canton announced that the money will go to the scholarship fund he began in 1999.
The 95-year-old actor has contributed nearly $7.5 million to the scholarship at the private college near the Canadian border.
The awards go to minority students who demonstrate excellence in academics and leadership and show a financial need.
The "Spartacus" actor graduated from St. Lawrence in 1939 as an English major.
