CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Jury deliberations are under way in the trial of a former University of Virginia lacrosse player charged in the slaying of his former girlfriend in a drunken rage.

Jurors heard nine days of testimony before beginning deliberations Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of 24-year-old George Huguely V of Chevy Chase, Md. He is accused in the May 3, 2010, slaying of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old suburban Baltimore woman who had a volatile, jealousy-tinged relationship with Huguely.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted of the most serious murder charge.

A medical examiner concluded Love died of blunt force trauma after Huguely kicked a hole in the door of her bedroom and the two had a physical encounter.

Jurors heard different theories on what caused her death.
