Family Found Dead
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a mother and four children have been found dead at a duplex in central Arkansas.
Jacksonville Fire Battalion Chief Bob Thornton says firefighters were called to the duplex around 6 a.m. Thursday by a neighbor who reported smelling smoke.
Thornton says no one answered the door and firefighters using thermal imaging did not detect any signs of a fire from outside the apartment. He says they left without going inside.
Thornton says a maintenance worker discovered the bodies an hour later.
Thornton says there was no fire burning when authorities returned but that there were signs one had burned overnight. He says there were no indications of foul play.
Jacksonville police say the bodies were that of a mother and four children. Their ages weren't immediately known.
