KANSAS CITY, Missouri- Police in Kansas City have discovered a 10 year- old girl locked in a closet, and her mother is now in jail.

The child weighed 32 pounds when police freed her after responding to a call to a child abuse hotline.

The child was hospitalized and her condition has not been released.

The 29 year- old mother pleaded "not guilty" in court today on charges of assault, child abuse, and endangerment.
