Despite some industry feeling that the Aurora, Colorado tragedy may have held down audience numbers, the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" still did spectacularly well at the box office this weekend.
Although the film's distributor Warner Brothers has withheld box office numbers out of respect for the victims and their families, industry sources say the last of the Christian Bale/Batman trilogy will gross over 60-million dollars a record for a 2D film.
As for Christian Bale, he released a statement over the weekend expressing his personal horror over the Aurora incident, saying "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
And a show business tragedy of another kind.
The stepson of the Grammy award-winning pop star Usher has died, two weeks after the child was critically injured in a boating accident.
11-year-old Kile Glover, was a son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster.
The boy was run over July 6 by a personal watercraft on Lake Lanier, 40 miles northeast of Atlanta.
The accident continues under investigation.
