LOS ANGELES (AP) - Residents are still bundled up and growers in the Central Valley again are taking measures to protect their citrus crops as California's cold snap enters its fourth night. There are alerts predicting freezing temperatures and frost in much of the state, with new high wind warnings in place for the mountains around Los Angeles beginning early Monday. Farmers are hoping for another night of successful crop protection, as they run wind machines and water to shield their fruit.

CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) - After months of going down, gas prices are picking up again. The Lundberg Survey says the average price of a gallon of gasoline has surged seven cents in the last three weeks. Lundberg puts the price of a gallon of regular at $3.32. Of the places surveyed, Salt Lake City has the nation's lowest average price at $3.04. Long Island, N.Y. has the highest at $3.75.

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - What should be done to the Connecticut school where 26 people were shot to death last month? A meeting in Newtown about Sandy Hook's future drew about 200 people today. Some residents want to see the school demolished and a memorial built on the property. Others say it should be renovated and the areas where the killings occurred removed.

NEW YORK (AP) - The suicide this week of internet freedom activist Aaron Swartz is rekindling a long-running debate about how harshly authorities should deal with well-meaning people who compromise computer systems. Swartz struggled for years against a legal system that he felt had not caught up to the information age. Swartz's family says his death by suicide was "the product of a criminal justice system rife with intimidation and prosecutorial overreach."

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) - Ben Affleck has won the Golden Globe for best director for his film "Argo." Hugh Jackman was voted best actor in a musical or comedy by the Hollywood foreign press for his performance in "Les Miserables" which won the Golden Globe for best movie musical or comedy. The 70th annual Golden Globes are airing live from Beverly Hills.
