According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention there are now at least 40 cases of swine flu in the United States. While there have been no cases reported in Florida, state officials remain vigilant.

The Alachua County Health Department says the current situation with cases of swine flu in the U.S. is cause for concern, but not panic. Symptoms are no different then those of human flu viruses. University of Florida officials say it's too early to know how and where the swine flu will spread.

"This virus however could burn quite rapidly for a short while and then die out," said Paul Gibbs, a professor of virology at the University of Florida. "But equally it has all the potential to in fact create an extensive epidemic around the world."

The Florida Department of Health have 120,000 doses of the anti-viral drug Tamiflu. They are also expecting additional doses from the CDC.
