Millions of people across the country will look up to the skies this weekend. All watching colorful fireworks displays during Fourth of July celebrations, but law enforcement and fire officials want people to be wary of the dangers when lighting your own fireworks.
Officials with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said they get more calls related to fireworks around holidays like the Fourth of July and New Year's.
Fire rescue officials warn fireworks can do more than just cause bodily harm.
"They could catch any debris that's on the roof on fire and burn a house down," said Fire Rescue spokesperson Carol Davis. "Or catch any landscape in the area on fire and potentially burn a house down that way too. So those are some of the things you have to be careful of."
