With summer in full swing and kids out of school, most programs for children are operating at their highest occupancy.
But that's not the case for one summer program in our area.
The program only has a quarter of the kids they had last year..
The EDEP program has been a hot topic for school board members and parents in the past.
Board members decided that if they kept EDEP, they would change it... giving it an educational curriculum.
But tuition rates rose significantly to pay teachers and other expenses.
Some parents say the changes to the curriculum and the higher tuition led to a decline in enrollment.
Last year, almost 1200 students attended EDEP in 14 schools.
This year, that number dropped to 330 kids in 6 schools.
But EDEP staff say they're hoping parents will see things are still in operation this summer and will bring their kids back next year.
