The Church seems to be doing the same thing the 'protesters' are doing, ie, speaking out againt what they see as wrong.

Islam is not for peace. I agree with the pastor and hope he is not scared off. These people are violent and will hurt him for what he has done. I do not go to this church, but I am happy that someone has taken a public stand. May God Bless him and watch over him

Freedom of speech, ya - I guess. If a Mosque had a sign similar, no one would say that... the thing is, it wouldn't. Islam is indeed a religion of peace. You cannot judge solely on the actions of a few that use religion to hide their hateful actions. You know like the unibomber, the Christian groups that blow up doctor's clinics. Wish others would educate themselves a bit more on other religions than your own. The pastor is wrong on this, sends a clear message about the entire church membership. Everyone should embrace one another and build bridges, not walls. Not helpful. This is so hurtful and should be offensive to everyone, not just Muslims.

Freedom of speech is abused...horribly! People think they can insult people and say "Oh I am free to say whatever I want and I don't care if I hurt anyone" that is anarchy!

Yes, I believe in standing up for what you believe in. But I do not believe in insulting people to make your point. You can say whatever is you believe and why without insult someone else's beliefs or lifestyle.

People need to grow up and stop acting this way. We need to respect each other as Human Beings.

The Lord will never bless a disgraceful act such as this. This is a horrible act of violence. It is one thing to publicly denounce a faith as false, but completely another to be violent about it. I always say before you act on something, say to yourself "What would Jesus do"? Jesus would never, ever do something like burn these books. He would go to these people and preach the truth of God's love to them and pray for change. Violence breeds violence. Shame on this pastor and his congregation. Complete shame to a faith that claims Christ as their cornerstone.

i agree with this idea; i plan to purchase a quran/koran and burn it myself to send a message to the islamic world communit.; they need to know that we are fed up with thier intolerance of the US and our beliefs and we are no longer going to tolerate thier scorn and terrany. if it comes down to it we are ready to fight for our freedoms and rights to believe and live as we wish. we will not bend/bow to the terroristic methods that muslim believers use to intimidate the rest of the world. if the islamic/muslim community wants a fight, many of us here are ready, we have turned the other cheek too many times and and we are ready to send them all back to thier own country with thier tail between thier legs.

The only religion in modern times that must defend itself for being violent is Islam. If Muslims were non violent they would dismiss Rev. Jones as a jerk and live and let live. Muslims aren't willing to build bridges and are building a huge wall with the Cordoba Mosque they are trying to build in the building damaged by Muhammad Atta during the attacks on America in the name of Allah and Islam on 9/11/01.

This is to Delia.....ACTUALLY, if a mosque had a similar sign about burning Bibles, no one would give a sh*t. I say "GO FOR IT PREACHER." I like how no one is commenting on how some muslim raghead in whatever country (don't really give a crap which one) has threatened to kill every American they see if this "HORRIBLE" act of burning the precious quran is carried out. Seems to me that threatening to kill people who had nothing to do with burning their dumb book is far worse than burning some STUPID book. Yes, we do have freedom of speech in this country, and I fully support anyone's right to express their opinions. What I hope the Dove Outreach Center's protestors realize is that it is not the Qur'an that perpetuates violence, but it is the shameful twisting of sacred truths to accomodate and create an agenda of violence that Al'Quaida and terrorsts do so freely. Throughout history many holy texts have been misued in a way that denies the true teachings of love and peace in favor of the idealismsand whims of whoever is in charge at the time-the Christian Holy Wars, the Salem Witch Hunts, Kings and Hitler all have taken their ideas to violent extremes. If those in the Dove Outreach Center want to protest what's wrong, they should protest the ludicrous twisting of the truths that ALL Holy Scriptures teach.

The Koran and the bible read the same way. They believe that the earth and the heavens was made in 7 days. That there is one god over the eart and heavens they just have a different name for god. Pastor Jones said they did not look at Jesus as god cause he was not a god. He is the son of god he was a leader and lead the flock to the word. In the koran he is a prophet the same thing. I have a friend that left that churh in florida cause there use to be about a hundred people that went to the church. After his book people left cause they believed that the devil is in the church. That there was only 2 people that sent him Korans and that they bought the rest of them himself and said it was from others. In the holy Bible God Does not believe in violince. God says that is the devils work. So the pastor is going against the word of god. He is not doing it for the people he is doing it for himself. The more he is on Tv the more his book will sell. The town which the church is located in will not let him Burn the books the fire department has orders if he starts a big fire to put it out. In the laws of the city he can only burn twigs and that is it. Way it is going he will loses all his followers than he will be on his own. The only thing he is doing is prompting violence. If I had the money I would buy the church and the land which is up for sale for 1.1 million dollars and remove him. Christian people need to stand up with the word of god and drive the devil out of the church.

Sooooo...Muslims want to build a community center near ground zero seen by most as a right yet extremely insensitive and devisive and this is protected from the liberal left media. Freedom of religion and speech...yadda, yadda. A guy in Florida wants to burn a religious book and this is seen by most as a right but extremely insensitive and devisive and yet it is condemed by the liberal left media. Radical Muslim leaders are calling for the death of Americans if he burns the book. I don't hear any radical Christians calling for the deaths of any Muslims if the center is built. Can anyone else see the hypocricy here? I would just like to tell everyone out there...you can't have it both ways. The whole goose and gander thing is really strong in this situation.

Please stop this display of burning quran's on 9/11. Our soldiers are over there fighting for us. You, Mr. Jones, are putting their lives in danger and also our lives in danger. I am all for it!! I only wish I could get off work in order to join them, toss on a few of the 'books' myself, and fellowship with some Christians who are not afraid of islime, and it's teaching of hateful messages. I'd burn ANY book that says that Christians should be murdered just because they are Christians.

open letter to Pastor Jones:

Dear Pastor:
I make no claim to speak for God, but perhaps you'll let me share what God has taught this humble servant.
1. We are ALL His children. That makes us family. The duty of a Holy Brother is to serve those in his care. Be in the world, not of it. Let your heart be changed about the book burning (do unto others...). Pride of such an act would be a sin. Your flock looks to you & you'd truly serve them by working thru this together, as a family, to let your hearts be changed. The message of God lives there. To whom much is given, much is required. Hearts do get confused in our time but need not get scarred by hate.
2. Christians were part of the Spanish Inquisition. Does that make all Christians & Spanish guilty TODAY? All things change. So will radical people claiming to be Muslim. Very simply, it's a matter of time. If you're without sin, cast the first stone (or match).
3. Love your neighbor as yourself. Consider the positive things all people do, good people do & encourage THAT. Nurture that. Book burning accomplishes nothing--that's ancient history. By honoring each other, society changes. May you & yours sow good seeds--the Truth is in the harvest.

I never advocate violence. Pastor needs a serious correction and rebuke. Perhaps the congregation should be praying for his removal. If your reading Pastor Jones, get on your knees and ask forgiveness, you should be ashamed of yourself. Let the Lord do his work in his time and mind your own business. I gave this 'Burn the Koran' a lot of thought. I am not into burning books and besides I do not own a Koran to burn. However, I just love what Pastor Jones has started. I have been talking to many of my friends about how much the Muslims love their women. You know, they kill them (honor killings), stone them, mutilate them, throw acid in their face, rape them and do it all for Allah. In fact, the Muslims really love Americans but they have to kill us because Allah orders them to kill the infidels. They are so devoted to the Koran that they insist on building a monument mosque on ground zero. Of course, ground zero is sacred and they have to build the mosque to show the world how much they care.

Well...... the gals in the area talked about this and "Enough is Enough" and since Pastor Jones has drawn the line in the sand, we decided not to go out and buy Koran's, instead, we will get pieces of paper and write "Koran" on them and tomorrow (Sept 11) we will set them on fire in honor of "September 11 Burn the Koran" day. This would be a symbolistic gesture for all the Women on the globe. We may even draw a picture of Mohammed on the papers (We know how much the Islamists love cartoons).

In some muslim countries it is legal to kill someone who converts from islam to Christianity. Also the Bible is a banned reading in various Arab nations . Yet if the koran was banned here some muslims use that as a reason to spew hatetred. While one might argue this guy's methods he may have done what many have wanted to do ,......and that's "get us out of Afganistan".
