Thursday afternoon Santa Fe College hosted hundreds of prospective students, but these prospies won't be applying for admission any time soon. That's because they're all eighth graders.
Middle school students must take one course in career and education planning in seventh or eighth grade. That requirement brought many students to the "Santa Fe Showcase."
For the second year in a row, the college lets students from Alachua and Bradford county schools experience campus life. Kids get to learn about the different programs offered at Santa Fe.
"I think it's like the perfect time, cause when you start in high school it might be too late," said Ft. Clarke Middle School student Edward Gaines. "So if you start when you're in middle school, you can set out a plan."
Earlier this year, Santa Fe College also hosted a workshop for middle and high school counselors.
