A new program at High Springs Community School has changed the way some of its students approach reading, thanks to some help from a few four-legged friends.
Every Thursday volunteers from Alachua County Animal Services bring dogs as part of the "PAWS" reading program. The dogs get paired with students who then read their books out loud. It's all part of an effort to improve reading skills while at the same time making it fun.
"PAWS" has been at the school for about a month now. The program used to be at Alachua Elementary a few years ago, but volunteers wanted to bring it back.
