Donating money to Haiti is one way to help the earthquake victims, but a Gainesville High School student dual-enrolling at Santa Fe, is using a different kind of "dough" to help in the relief efforts.
Jessica Turner is collecting pancake mix to send to Haiti.
She says it was after she learned they were making pancakes out of dirt, oil, and water that she thought of the idea...
"It was the 1st night after the earthquake and i was watching p-b-s and they had a documentary and it was about the children and their expectant mothers and they consumed the mud cakes and they were made of dirt so i wanted to give them another meal," says Turner.
Turner is collecting pancake mix and water throughout the community.
She's even teamed up with area super markets and churches to help in her efforts. Her goal is to send enough pancake mix to feed ten thousand families.
If you would like to help in her efforts, please contact Jessica at (352) 256-3678.
