Doing something as simple as filling out a ten question survey could help secure funding for schools, roads and health care and give north central Florida a stronger voice in Congress.
The 2010 census is about more than the numbers....400 billion dollars in Federal dollars is up for grabs.
Realizing the impact it has on the community the city of Gainesville has taken steps to make sure as many people as possible are counted.
They are reaching out to students in particular to make sure the City's population will be accurately counted.
They say since students spend a majority of the year in Gainesville they should be counted as resident.
Starting in late February the U.S. Census will begin to send out survey's to the community.
Then in March and April they will begin to count the population.
