Some residents in Alachua County say their roads are so bad that they are willing to help the county pay to have them fixed. They are offering to pay higher taxes to get the improvements.
The Gainesville County Club Home Owner's Association told county officials they will foot the bill at more than $300,000. It adds up to $180 per house per year for the next 10 years.
Public works officials say residents in the Gainesville Country Club neighborhood are about halfway through the process of getting county permission to pay for the roads. Roadwork could begin in october.
