With more budget cuts looming throughout the city of Gainesville, Police Chief Tony Jones is preparing for the worst.

Chief Jones said Friday that he's been ordered to come up with several plans to cut 15 percent of his budget. That's about $4 million. And, then submit the plans to City Manager Russ Blackburn by next Thursday.

In the worst case scenario model, Chief Jones said more than 70 jobs could be cut. 33 of those would be sworn officers taken off the streets. He said that scenario is just a possibility at this point and the final decision will be made by the city commission, probably sometime in early July.
