Stephanie Bechara joined the WCJB-TV20 news team in September of 2012 as a reporter. Born and raised in sunny South Florida, she was quickly exposed to a compilation of people with diverse stories.
It was this occurrence that ignited a spark in her of concern for the people and the people's interests.
This led Bechara to pursue her interests as a Journalism student at the Miami Dade Honors College. After two years, she graduated with highest honors and received an Associate of Arts Degree.
In continuation of her studies, Bechara enrolled at the University of Florida for a Bachelor’s Degree in the Telecommunication-News program.
Once there, she sought to experience a further development in the field of reporting by serving as the radio anchor and producer for Noticias WUFT-FM, a weekly Spanish news broadcast on the University’s NPR member station.
Bechara also served as the health news segment anchor and reported for WUFT-TV, the University's PBS affiliate network.
With great aspirations and dedication, she gained experience in the field by interning with the University of Florida News Bureau, NBC 6/Telemundo 51 in Miami and the Gainesville Television Network.
As an intern, Bechara gained ample experience in producing, reporting, anchoring, writing, and editing.
Bechara is currently enrolled in the Professional Master of Arts in Mass Communication-Multimedia Telecommunication program at the University of Florida.
Bechara's work has been honored by the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters for Best Mobile Journalist.
She is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists which has furthered her desire to interact and learn about people of all cultures.
She’s a social media junkie so feel free to email her with story ideas or any other comments at SBechara@divcom.com, follow her on Twitter or like her Facebook page.
