Jeffrey Meldon TV20 Scholar Athlete Lasharrah Nattiel
Newberry's Lasharrah Nattiel comes from a family full of athletes. Her brothers played football at the next level, her sister was a former Panther basketball player, and most notably her uncle Ricky played for the Florida Gator football team in the 1980s. But Lasharrah is keeping up the family name with her stellar play on the basketball court, helping Newberry reach the State Final Four for the first time since 1989. In the school's first girls basketball title game appearance in program history, Lasharrah led the Panthers with 38 points and 20 rebounds in the two Lakeland games. Newberry eventually fell to Ponce de Leon 55-52 in the title game, but Lasharrah prides herself in the numbers she puts up in the classroom with a 3.6 GPA. She is still weighing her options whether she wants to continue playing basketball at the next level.
