But for Hawthorne's Jailyn McGruder, she refused to give up when tearing her PCL in her right knee and is on pace to return for the Hornets in mid-January.

The senior point guard averaged double-digit points as well as at least six assists a game before her injury.

Her determination to rehabilitate her knee carries over to the classroom, where Jailyn earns a 3.7 GPA and plans to attend college and major in nursing.
