FIVE GATORS TAKEN IN NBA DRAFT
There was no suspense with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. Greg Oden had that locked up for a year. But the Gators made this draft much more exciting.
Al Horford was the top Gator taken in the draft, going third to the Atlanta Hawks. Corey Brewer soon followed at number seven to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Joakim Noah went to the Chicago Bulls with the number nine pick. With those three picks, Florida becomes the first team in history to have three players taken in the top 10 of the NBA draft.
But there's more. Chris Richard will join Brewer in Minnesota, as he's taken 41st by the Timberwolves. And Taurean Green rounds out a history-making night for Florida by becoming the 5th Gator taken in the draft. He will join Oden in Portland as Green is taken with the 52nd overall pick. The five players taken from the same team ties a record.
