CHESTNUT OVERTAKES KOBAYASHI FOR HOT DOG TITLE
Published July 4th, 2007
Kobayashi's reign as hot dog eating champion is over; at least for one year. Although he ate a career-best 63 hot dogs, it wasn't enough to overtake American Joey Chestnut, who set a new world record by wolfing down 66 hot dogs. Chestnut is the fourth American to win the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in the past ten years.
Locally, TV20 held several informal hot dog eating contests at the Alachua Recreational Center during the annual Fourth of July Celebration. Winners included Conrad Curtis, Ashlyn Harden and Roy Spratlin.
