Donovan's New Guys Shine
Marreese Speights scored 22 points and grabbed 13 boards to help pace the Back-to-Back National Champions in a 97-51 Exhibition Opening Victory over Flagler at the O'Connell Center.
Speights hit 10 of 13 from the field. As a team the Gators were 8 of 24 from 3-point range.
Led by newcomer Nick Calathes with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, all the freshmen scored in double figures.
Calathes longtime teammate Chandler Parsons put in 18 points, while Alex Tyus scored 12 points and recorded 9 rebounds.
Jai Lucas added 11 points and Adam Allen chipped in with 10 points.
The Exhibition opener marked the first time the Gators played without Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Taureen Green and Corey Brewer. The group help lead the Gators to 3 straight SEC Championships and the Back-to-Back National Championships before heading to their respective NBA Teams.
