Gator Men Top Tennessee Tech
Behind five players in double figures, including a team-leading 16 points from Marrese Speights (14 of the 16 coming in the opening half), the Gator Men's Basketball Team moved to 2-0 on the young season. Speights connected on 7 out of his 10 baskets for his 70-percent shooting effort from the floor.
Florida led 50-30 at the break and never looked back.
Nick Calathes, Chandler Parsons (5 of 7 from the floor) and Adam Allen (6 of 9 from the floor) all scored 15 points each. Calathes dished out a team-high 8 assists, while Chandler recorded 5 assists.
Jai Lucas (4 of 8 shooting) chipped in with 13 points to round out the double-digit scoring effort. Florida nearly had 6 players record double-figures as Alex Tyus added 8 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
As a team, UF shot 57-percent for the game. The Gators also made 53-percent of their baskets from 3-point land and 82-percent of their free throw throws.
