Murphy Up for Big Award
Published July 15th, 2008
After losing four seniors from last year's 29-3 team which made it to the Sweet 16, Gator volleyball will start this season with the number one recruiting class in the country with the gem being Kelly Murphy.
Later this week, Murphy will head for Hollywood and attend the ESPY awards. She could also win a National Athlete of the Year award.
But, getting an invitation to the ESPY awards isn't Murphy's biggest accomplishment. She's also the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year, and recently led a team to a national championship at the Junior Volleyball Director's Championships.
Murphy says she hopes to live up to the successes of others who have won the Gatorade Player of the Year before her.
