Santa Fe College Baseball Wins Conference

Two homeruns by Trace Venegas lifted the Santa Fe college baseabll team (28-19, 17-8 MFC) past Central Florida CC 12-4 and to the 2009 Mid-Florida Conference Championship. The two homeruns give Venegas seven for the season to go along with 51 RBI and a .325 batting average.
The title is the second in three years for Saints and Coach Wiggs, who says this year’s team was different from years past. Venegas finished 2-for-5 with two homeruns and five RBI.
Next up for Santa Fe is the FCCAA State Tournament in Winter Haven on May 8-12. The Saints are matched up with St. Pete College in a first round game scheduled for 10:00am on May 8 at the Chain of Lakes Park.
