Published March 16th, 2010
After failing to make the NCAA tournament, the Florida Gator women's basketball team earned a berth in the NIT tournament Monday night. The Gators (14-16) will host South Florida (15-15) on Thursday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The time had not been announced as of Monday night. The Gators reached the third round of the NIT in 2008, Amanda Butler's first year as Florida's head coach. In 2009, the Gators reached the second round of the NCAA tournament, losing to eventual national champion Connecticut. By reaching the NIT this year, Butler becomes the first Gator Women's Head Coach to take a team to the postseason in her first three years.
