Lafayette Buzzing After 41-7 Beatdown Over Hawthorne
Published October 23rd, 2010
Neither Hornet team had lost a district game, so something had to give. The Home "Nest" helped, with the Lafayette Hornets pulling out a 41-7 victory over district rival Hawthorne. The Hornets from Hawthorne grabbed the lead early on an Antwan Brown fumble, recovered by Afernee Hayes for a touchdown. But Lafayette kept giving Brown the ball, and he answered with a great game, including a game-long 85-yard touchdown run to put Lafayette ahead for good. Lafayette now with a 6-game win streak, playoff bound, and essentially wrapping up 1-B District 2 with the win over Hawthorne.
