Mizell Minute-Gators Lose Three
Next weekend, the Gators are OFF… I mean, “No game scheduled”…
Actually, they’ve been OFF “three consecutive Saturdays”---SEC losses to
Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State… I was so wrong about these Gators---
“convinced” they’d be strong---big contenders in the SEC---maybe beyond…
But they are “OH-for-October”…Their record---4-and-3---I cannot recall
“more UNDERachieving Gators”… THREE of “this generations most successful college
college programs”---Florida, Texas and Southern California---had lost TWO IN A
ROW…but Texas and USC “re-emerged” Saturday---while the Gators “FURTHER
SUB-MERGED”… Urban Meyer is in his 10th season as a head coach---he’s NEVER
DEALT with such a feeling of--- “THE SKY IS FALLING”… Maybe it’s because the
Gators no longer have TIM TEBOW to pull them out of the fire… Urban is facing
TOUGH, even PERSONAL decisions… Next opponent---“Georgia”… A month ago, I
would’ve given Florida a 95 percent chance of smacking Dawgs who were THEN a
mess… But now—in what has become “an IGNO-minious Gator October”---Florida
appears to have e “no better than a 50-50 chance” against NOW-EMERGING Georgia…
Five games left in the Gators’ season---remarkably, they can STILL “reach the SEC
Championship Game”---by beating Georgia, South Carolina and Vanderbilt…but is SO
DIFFICULT to be OPTIMISTIC about anything… In the dozen days that Florida has to
“prepare for Georgia”---the “physical” and “emotional” needs are MONUMENTAL….
I’m Hubert Mizell, and that’s what I think.
