Gators Hoops Upset at Home, Dolphins Win in Overtime 71-68
The 20th ranked Gators Basketball team were back in the AP Top 25. Consider it a brief appearance. After a dominating victory over sixth ranked Kansas State, the Gators came home to produce a dud in Florida's 71-68 overtime defeat to Jacksonville University. Once again, early turnovers doomed the Gators to get any consistency on the offensive end of the floor. Florida was hanging on to a two-point lead with under 30 seconds left in regulation, but senior Chandler Parsons turned it over, the Dolphins tied it on a fast-break dunk, and carried the momentum and intensity into overtime. Guard Erving Walker had a chance to win at the end of regulation, but his three-point shot was off the mark. Walker was presented with a chance at redemption in overtime, but his game-tying shot rimmed out, and the Gators went on to lose to their second unranked opponent this season.
