Buchholz Girls Basketball Fall to Dillard in 5A State Semis 60-54
Published February 25th, 2011
For the first time in a decade, the Buchholz Bobcats girls basketball team made a state semifinal appearance, one of four Class 5A teams still standing. Unfortunately for them, Buchholz faced the reigning state champions from Dillard, with the Panthers ousting the Bobcats 60-54 in Lakeland. Buchholz was the aggressor early, driving hard to the rim and living at the free throw line. But on the defensive end, the Bobcats press was picked a part by Dillard, with the Panthers holding a 31-29 halftime lead en route to the final margin. Buchholz was led by sophomore Jessica Thomas with 17 points, while senior Jessica Goble chipped in 11 and junior Kimberly Sinisterra had a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
