Fred Brei took on the corporate breeding farms in Kentucky with his little operation in Ocala, known as Jacks or Better. And for Brei, Jacks was better, breeding the filly Awesome Feather, who went on to win a Breeders' Cup race as well as multiple awards. And more amazing, Brei took on the challenge of starting a breeding farm after retirement, just because he wanted something to do.
