Rams Miracle Shot Answered in Double OT, Earn Season Sweep Over GHS 52-51
The Purple Hurricanes thought they had it. Raheem Watkins had other ideas. Down two with three seconds to play in double overtime, the Rams' Raheem Watkins got a great look and heaved a 50-foot shot as time expired, watching it hit nothing but the bottom of the net. Watkins heroics catapulted Eastside to a dramatic 52-51 double overtime victory, earning the season sweep over their cross-town rivals. Gainesville led most of the way, but fell behind in the fourth quarter, only to watch Calvin Long push them into overtime with a putback field goal, tying the game at 47-all at the end of regulation. Long also was the Cane hero in the second stanza, after putting back Isaiah Jackson's miss with just over three seconds to play. That set up Eastside's thrilling ending at Santa Fe College.
