Williston Boys Basketball Wins Final Season Showdown Against Santa Fe
Published February 23rd, 2011
Meeting for the fourth time this season, the Williston and Santa Fe boys basketball teams played one final time for a place in the Class 3A Region 2 Final. Once again, the two teams did not disappoint. In another hard-fought slugfest, the Red Devils beat the Raiders 52-44 to move within one game of the state final four. Deterion Ross led all scorers with 21 points, while Jeffrey Meldon TV20 Scholar Athlete of the Week CJ Wakeley led the Raiders with 15. The Raiders held a one point advantage at the half, but the Red Devils hit nine of ten free throws down the stretch to provide the insurance points needed. Williston will now host Orlando Jones on February 26th with a trip to Lakeland on the line.
