Florida Prepares For Sweet 16, Jimmer Fredette
The Florida Gator Basketball team probably hasn't seen anything like Jimmer Fredette since, well, Jimmer Fredette. The Gators will get the chance to avenge last year's NCAA tournament loss to BYU when they meet the Cougars in New Orleans Thursday night. Both teams advanced to the Sweet 16 with issues that have yet to slow down either side, but which could play a factor in the game Thursday. BYU lost Brandon Davies earlier this year when the Cougars forward was kicked off the team for violating the school's honor code by having sex with his girlfriend. Davies was third on the team in scoring average. Florida, meanwhile, is still unsure what kind of production to expect from guard Kenny Boynton, a vital cog on offense and defense whom the Gators can ill-afford to lose. Boynton injured his left ankle against UCLA and did not practice Monday with the team, although Gators Head Coach Billy Donovan expects Boynton to be ready to play on Thursday.
