Gator Pitching Nearly Perfect, Sweep the Lipton Invitational with 9-0 Win over North Dakota State
Published March 6th, 2011
On Sunday afternoon, senior Stephanie Brombacher faced her first batter in the top of the 1st inning. A harmless pop-up turned into a bloop-single after two teammates failed to catch it. No matter for Stephanie, because she was in control the entire rest of the way and retired every batter she faced. Brombacher went four innings, with five strikeouts, and that one bloop single, as the No. 2/3 Florida Gators defeated North Dakota State 9-0. The Gators were powered by the long ball, with Aja Paculba and Brittany Schutte hitting two two-run blasts out of Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. It was the fifth victory of the Lipton Invitational, claiming the tournament, and at 19-0 the Gators match its best start in program history.
