Gators Exact Revenge on BYU in OT Thriller 83-74, Advance to Elite Eight

In just over a year, the Florida Gators and Brigham Young Cougars have played in three overtimes. Fortunate for the two-seeded Gators, Alex Tyus was there to steal the spotlight from Jimmer Fredette. Tyus, one of three Florida starting seniors, led Florida with a herculean effort of 19 points and a career-high 17 rebounds as the Florida Gators knocked out three-seed BYU from the NCAA Tournament 83-74. Fredette, in the running for National Player of the Year, scored 32 points but on 29 shots. Meanwhile, Florida was very balanced on offense, with four of the five starters in double figures. The Gators will face Butler in the Elite Eight on Saturday, with a chance to earn the programs fifth Final Four appearance in Florida history.
