Mike Griggs knew the Kelly family. He was close with them. So when Metry Kelly, the patriarch of the family, died of a heart attack this Thanksgiving, Mike was ready to comfort them in any way he could. The Kelly sons wanted dad's car to run one last time at the 42nd NHRA Gatornationals, with only one problem: neither had enough points to race. So when Griggs heard the Kellys were looking for a driver, he jumped at the opportunity and gave the family one last memory of the "Yankee Peddler" '86 Dodge running down the quarter-mile at Gatornationals.
