Gator Gymnastics Fall Short At NCAA Championships
Published April 15th, 2011
Rhonda Faehn and the Gators Gymnastics team are leaving Cleveland earlier than expected. No. 5 Florida stumbled at the beginning in the first rotation, and never could quite recover, failing to advance to the Super Six of the NCAA Gymnastics Championships for a sixth consecutive year. Two falls on the beam gave the Gators a score of 48.125, the lowest posted score on any event all season. Florida was phenomenal on the floor with its second-highest score in NCAA Championship competition, with a 49.45, but the deficit was too much to overcome. Gator gymnasts Alaina Johnson, Marissa King, and Maranda Smith will stay in Ohio for individual event finals.
